Questions
- How is Amazon FBA profit calculated?
- Profit per unit is the selling price minus Amazon's fees (the referral fee, the FBA fulfillment fee, storage and any other Amazon fees), minus your landed cost (product cost, shipping to Amazon and prep), minus other costs and ad spend per unit. Margin is that profit divided by the price, and ROI is that profit divided by your landed cost.
- Where do I find my exact FBA fees?
- Amazon publishes referral fees by category, FBA fulfillment fees by size tier, shipping weight and price, and storage fees by size and season, on its Selling on Amazon pricing page and in Seller Central help. For a specific product, Amazon's Revenue Calculator and the fee preview in Seller Central show the estimated fees for that item. Enter those numbers here.
- Why does this calculator not fill in Amazon's fees for me?
- Amazon revises its fees and size tiers from time to time, and the right fee depends on your category, size tier, weight, price and the time of year. A built in table can go out of date without anyone noticing, so this calculator asks for the fee you see in your own account and does the math around it.
- How does the referral fee minimum work?
- For each item sold, Amazon charges the referral fee percentage for its category or a minimum amount per item, whichever is greater. Amazon lists a $0.30 minimum for most categories, and some categories differ. The calculator applies the minimum you enter, so a low priced item never shows a fee that is too small.
- What is a good profit margin on Amazon FBA?
- There is no single right number. It depends on your category, your ad costs and how fast the product sells. Look at margin and ROI together: margin shows how much of each sale you keep, and ROI shows how hard your cash works. The break even ACoS result shows how much you can spend on ads before a sale stops making money.
- Should sales tax and returns be included?
- Leave sales tax out of the price: in the US, marketplace facilitator laws mean Amazon collects and remits it on most orders. Returns are not included automatically, so add an allowance per unit under other costs if your category sees returns.
